Empire apples are a cross between Red delicious and Mcintosh apples.
The apple’s skin is on thick side. The base color is a yellow – green. It is covered in a deep brick red or Crimson color with striations and striping. It has a smooth somewhat waxy texture to the the skin.
The flesh is ivory in color. Dense and firm consistency. With a nice Crunch to the bite. This apple is unique in that first bite is sweet but as you chew it gets a little tangy.
