Gala apples are a very sweet and mellow apple. This apple is a kid favorite in our store. It’s Juicy, thin skin, and has a hint of vanilla like flavor.
The Gala apple is also small lending itself to the perfect size for kids. Personally I also think it’s a kid favorite because it’s super pretty.

Since the skin of the Gala apple is so thin it does bruise easily making it a delicate apple. It has a nice sheen to the orangish base. It has a pink blush early in the season that turns to a more deep red. Also the striping starts out pink and light and turns darker as the season progresses. Sometimes there is also spots on the apple giving it more depth to it’s already beautiful skin

The inside of the apple or the flesh of a Gala is usually Ivory to a pale yellow. Noticeably different from the white inside of the Cortland. There is a good snap or crunch to the apple. The Gala apple is special in the fact that it leans toward undertones of vanilla and apple blossoms. Instead of citrus like the Fuji.
