The Idared apple is firm apple with a sweet and tart taste. This apple is among the few that retain their shape and are great for baking.
It is a cross between the Jonathan and Wagener apples.
The skin of the Idared has a nice yellowish green base with the iconic red blush and striping that set it apart from the rest of the red apples.
The tasty part of the apple changes while it ages in the cooler making this apple unique. When you first have an Idared fresh it will taste more tart then when you have it later after it has been in cold storage and it’s flavor turns to the sweeter side.
